Hallmark of Quality
Careful grading of our log materials and framing lumber, numerous window and door options and top quality finishing materials are the hallmark of our log home packages.
Materials
Each and every one of our logs are graded in accordance with the standards established by Timber Products Inspection (TPI) which insures our customer a sound structural log home. We predominately sell Eastern White Pine logs, known for their stability when dried, but we also offer green Cyprus and Western Red Cedar logs. Our interior framing lumber is #2 or better, the standard of the housing industry.
- We offer a wide selection of windows from MW, BiltBest and Anderson. Our standard wood window provides a strong barrier against the elements. Clad upgrades are also available in an array of color options.
- We offer steel, solid wood and fiberglass doors. Our door supplier uses Simpson Fir doors to build solid exterior units. MW, BiltBest and Anderson also provide matching doors to compliment their windows.
- We supply 3/8” lag screws to secure the log walls, because we believe this fastening system offers superior strength and hold down capability.
- We also supply the necessary hardware for framing, including joist hangers.
- Our packages include locking sub-floor systems instead of plywood.
- Our standard roofing package offers 5/8” sheathing, #30 felt and 30 year shingles.
- The Caulking and sealants we offer are top notch as well, encompassing brand names with a long history of reliability.
Green Commitment
"The Green Outlook Program outlines our firm commitment to protecting the environment, as well as providing our customers with the peace of mind that they are getting a great product from a company that does well by doing good," commented John Barth, President and CEO of AmerLink and In The Woods. "Log homes are the original green building solution, made directly from the earth's natural resource and our program represents our belief that sustainable building products that are ecologically friendly are the only viable answer to a cleaner environment," Barth added
While In The Woods features several different log styles and sizes, appealing to any log home design ideas, we aspire to use logs that come from suppliers that practice re-forestation. We also make annual donations to the National Arbor Day Foundation, as a part of our Green Outlook Program, to support the Foundation's re-forestation programs, particularly in areas ravaged by wildfire.
From an ecological point of view, solid wood is the only building product that is renewable, biodegradable, recyclable and energy-efficient. Logs and other solid wood, as basic building components, generate the least amount of air and water pollution, emission of greenhouse gases and solid waste. Wood is one of nature's most effective carbon sinks, it has the ability to actually remove carbon dioxide. Efficient cutting, replanting and manufacture of wood into long lasting structures...combined with today's energy star rated high efficiency HVAC systems and appliances... can substantially lower the carbon footprint and offer a significant contribution toward reducing the impact of greenhouse gases on the environment. This allows an In The Woods home to not only offer the form and functionality of green living and building solutions to consumers, but to also construct an eco-savvy dwelling with a unique design style featuring plenty of design options and upgrades
As an industry leader, In The Woods understands the importance of educating consumers and businesses alike, when it comes to initiatives toward better environmental health. The Green Outlook Program is part of our promise to be good stewards of the environment throughout all facets of the log home industry, while still providing high value log homes on time, on budget and to the highest quality standards.
